Head of Technology
Ready to work and make an impact?
More boutiques, more markets and more ways to serve our customers. As Marie-Stella-Maris grows, the technology behind our business needs to work reliably today and be ready for what comes next.
We’re looking for a Head of Technology who enjoys leading people, making decisions and getting close to the technology. You’ll take ownership of our technology operation and help turn our plans into solutions that make a difference across the business.
About Marie-Stella-Maris
Marie-Stella-Maris is a renowned lifestyle and beauty brand where design, conscious living and social impact come together. Founded in Amsterdam, we create elevated home and body care essentials that enhance everyday routines while contributing to a greater purpose. Through our products and initiatives, we contribute to clean drinking water projects worldwide.
Driven by creativity, social responsibility and an entrepreneurial spirit, we work with intention, pay attention to every detail and aim to make a positive impact through everything we create.
The Position
You’ll lead our technology operation across boutiques, offices and remote teams. Your scope includes infrastructure, security, IT support and in-store technology. You’ll set priorities, make day-to-day decisions and take responsibility for reliable service as the business grows.
You’ll lead our IT Operations Manager and Omnichannel Retail Product Owner, with the opportunity to build the team further. You’ll also stay close to the work yourself: helping solve difficult problems, improving our infrastructure and making sure major projects land well.
You’ll report to the CIO and work together on our technology roadmap. Within that direction, you’ll have the autonomy to decide how the technology operation and infrastructure develop. As part of our Business Technology team, you’ll work closely with colleagues across the business to support growth, improve how we work and strengthen the customer experience.
What you’ll do
Lead and grow the team
Lead, coach and develop our IT Operations Manager and Omnichannel Retail Product Owner, giving them clear priorities and room to take ownership.
Build the team as the business grows, taking responsibility for hiring, performance and development.
Be the first point of escalation for operational technology matters and make the decisions needed to move work forward.
Keep our technology running and improving
Take responsibility for the reliability, performance and security of our IT environment, including networks, cloud services, devices and technology in our boutiques.
Make sure colleagues at HQ, in our boutiques and working remotely receive effective IT support.
Oversee day-to-day IT processes, including onboarding, offboarding and managing devices and other IT assets.
Improve infrastructure and security as we grow and ensure IT operations meet data protection and other regulatory requirements.
Deliver projects across the business
Lead the operational implementation of NetSuite ERP, a multi-year, cross-functional programme running through 2027, and make sure it lands well across the business. You'll work closely with the CIO, who owns the business case and the relationship with our implementation partners.
Make sure the new point of sale rollout, led by the Omnichannel Retail Product Owner, is supported by the right infrastructure, security and data foundations.
Lead the operational delivery of projects such as new boutique openings, system improvements, the B2B partner portal and the data platform.
Bring your operational perspective to technology planning and budgets.
Work with colleagues and partners
Work with Retail, E-commerce, Finance, Marketing and other teams to understand what they need and deliver solutions that work in practice.
Manage day-to-day relationships with IT service providers, holding them accountable for service quality, performance and costs.
Track operational performance, incidents, risks and project progress, and use those insights to set priorities and make improvements.
What you bring
You’re comfortable taking responsibility when priorities compete or the answer isn’t immediately clear. You can see the bigger picture, make sound decisions and still enjoy getting into the detail with your team. You communicate clearly with technical colleagues and people elsewhere in the business, and you build trust by following through.
We’re looking for someone with:
At least seven years of experience in IT operations, infrastructure or related technology roles, including two to three years leading people or teams.
Broad knowledge of networks, cloud services, end-user technology and security.
Experience delivering technology projects in a growing organization; retail, omnichannel or a business with multiple locations is a strong plus.
The ability to develop people and build a team that can take on more responsibility over time.
Experience managing external IT partners and balancing service quality with costs.
An interest in new technologies, including how AI can improve the way a business works.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to balance daily operations with longer-term projects.
Fluency in English; Dutch or French is a plus
Our technology landscape includes Okta, Microsoft 365, Box, Exact Online, Power BI, monday.com, Salesforce, Shopify, Personio, NetSuite, Celigo, Voyado, Colleqtive, SOTI and Cow Hills (Orisha Commerce). Hands-on experience with a good part of this landscape is a strong plus.
A degree in IT, computer science or a related field, or equivalent experience, is welcome. A valid Verklaring Omtrent het Gedrag (VOG) is required when you start.
What’s in it for you?
A role with real ownership at a growing international brand. You’ll lead a team, shape how our technology operation develops and see the impact of your work across our boutiques and the wider business.
Alongside a competitive salary, we offer:
25 days of annual leave based on a full-time contract, plus your birthday off
Two additional days for community involvement
The opportunity to go on a workcation
A pension contribution
20% discount on Marie-Stella-Maris products & refill available in our office and boutiques
A travel allowance
A healthy lunch at the office
A laptop and phone
Ready to build what’s next?
