About Marie-Stella-Maris
Marie-Stella-Maris is a renowned lifestyle brand dedicated to making a positive impact on the world through our unique products and initiatives. Our mission is to provide clean drinking water and better hygiene to those in need, while offering premium quality home and body care products. With a commitment to sustainability and social responsibility, we aim to inspire change and promote well-being.
The Position
As our Packaging Specialist, you will bridge the gap between Creative Product Design, Product Development, and Sourcing to explore, define, and realize packaging solutions across our full product portfolio. You will guide packaging development from early concept to production feasibility: researching materials, assessing technical requirements, validating design intent, and ensuring that packaging options are premium, functional, and commercially viable. You are at the heart of what is possible, available to ensure a premium, quality and consumer experience.
This is a part-time (or freelance) role, ideal for someone who combines deep material knowledge, supplier understanding, and packaging engineering insight with a passion for beauty and lifestyle products such as body care, perfumes, candles, and home fragrances.
Key Responsibilities
Packaging Development & Feasibility
Translate creative concepts into packaging realities by identifying structural, functional, and technical options.
Assess packaging requirements for new launches across categories including gifting, hand care, body care, haircare, perfume, lifestyle specials, home deco, and home fragrance, both for primaries and secondaries.
Develop feasibility studies, packaging briefs, and specification guidance to support design direction and product development.
Material & Structural Exploration
Research and present opportunities across materials, formats, and refill systems, including new and innovative solutions.
Evaluate and propose packaging opportunities and architectures that enhance explicit luxury and premium positioning, while balancing beauty, functionality, cost, impact, and implicit sustainability.
Supplier & Production Alignment
Liaise between internal teams and external suppliers to confirm manufacturing capabilities and technical requirements.
Work closely with Sourcing to identify new partners, materials, and production technologies.
Provide clear packaging specifications and documentation for quotation, sampling, and approval.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Support Creative Product Designer in shaping packaging form, usability, ergonomics, and aesthetic consistency.
Work with Product Development to ensure packaging solutions align with formulations, filling needs, stability, and logistics.
Partner with Sourcing to obtain the right partners for each project.
Work with Quality, Regulatory teams to validate compliance and performance.
Testing & Validation
Support compatibility, functionality, drop, leak, and transport testing in partnership with internal teams and suppliers.
Gather insights and recommendations to help refine packaging decisions prior to finalization.
We’re Looking For People Who Are…
Highly experienced in packaging and materials (primary and secondary) with a strong understanding of manufacturing processes and technical feasibility.
Excellent communicators who naturally build bridges between creative and operational disciplines.
Solution-driven, curious, and proactive, energized by exploring possibilities and solving constraints.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced scale-up environment where priorities evolve.
Passionate about sustainability, and able to balance environmental responsibility with premium experience.
And Who Bring…
5+ years of relevant packaging experience, ideally within beauty, lifestyle, fragrance, skincare, or consumer goods.
Strong knowledge of packaging materials, tooling, moulding, finishing, bottle and closure systems, and packaging engineering.
Experience working with suppliers and manufacturers across Europe or globally.
Ability to translate design concepts into production-ready direction and clear documentation.
Understanding of costs, sourcing constraints, timelines, and risk factors.
Experience with CAD, 3D files, or technical drawing formats is a plus (not required).
